Zinc Reservoirs / Sink Damme
Rainbow Tarps and Linings manufacture ZINC reservoirs to be DIY installed. If required a factory installation can be arranged at a fee.
These dams are made from rolled 0.8 mm corrugated zinc sheets and fitted with a UV stabilised 500-micron or in the case of potable water a 600 micron reinforced PVC liner . Zinc dams come standard with a 50 mm outlet. Other sizes can be fitted on request.
Dam capacities range from 3 m diameter x 1.5 deep (10 000 litres) up to 14 m diameter x 1.5 deep (231 000 litres).
UV Shield (Optional)
A UV shield is recommended when a reservoir cover is not being used. A 320 micron PVC mesh is a specialised reinforced PVC mesh or 450 micron liner is welded into place on the dams walls to protect the liner from extended UV damage, it covers the section of the liner that folds over the outside of the wall, the section on top of the wall and approximately the first 70 cm inside the dam. This is especially useful on irrigation dams where the water levels are continually fluctuating, leaving the walls of the dams exposed to the suns UV rays daily or for an extended period.
This is a cost-effective way to prolong the life span of any liner. In years to come one need only replace the UV shield and not the liner.
Reservoir Covers
All reservoirs can be fitted with either a 280g PVC mesh net or 550g reinforced PVC solid cover. By adding a reservoir cover, one reduces/ eliminates harmful UV rays prolonging the life span of the liner, preventing debris entering the water, reduces evaporation and in case of the solid 550g cover will also prevent algae growth in the water. Cover comes with an inspection window.
